Getting ready to put insulation?

i built a little house behind my house 12x10 and am going to start putting insulation on it i got r13 but what will happen if i don't put it on all the cavities am planing to put it on like one yes one no one yes one no will it still do the job on the roof its going on all the cavities but in the side no will it still work out that way please help
